![]() The National Fantasy Hockey League Commissioners meeting in Las Vegas have concluded that the league will simplify rules and focus on player selections at the start of the season. The changes include the removal of in season 'Free Agency'. The league wanted to go back to our roots which was focused on player selection at the beginning of the season and allowing enough flexibility to make in season changes utilizing the Reserve Roster without requiring constant GM engagement. The league plans to expand the Reserve Roster from 15 players to 17 which allows for two more quality players to be selected for the Reserve Roster with the decision process happening prior to season start. The Injury Reserve will also be simplified in 2023-24 with all teams required to utilize one of their 12 transactions up front for injured players. At that point the GM can decide to place the player on IR which will then allow that player to be returned to the Active Roster without utilizing an additional second transaction when returning from injury. IR requests will now be done within Officepools which will also simply the process. Still under review by the league is a proposed 'All Star Break' Transaction period where all teams will have an opportunity for two bonus transactions to be utilized only during a three day time period at the All Star Break. Having these transactions available during a specific point in the season allows for extra player movement for all teams and on a league perspective it simplifies the process since all GM's would be engaged during the same time period in season. NFHL teams would still have 12 transactions which can be used at their discretion however with transactions required for injured players next season, proper transaction management will become emphasized. NFHL GM's have received a draft of next seasons rules which detail the confirmed and potential changes. As always GM's can reach out to the league with any feedback regarding those rules. The NHL Playoff Pool returns for the 39th Anniversary edition! What began as a 8 participant draft format now has expanded to a multi-participant format including utilizing 'Draft Dollars' to build an Active and Reserve Roster for a 20 player playoff team.
